I would take an LC500 in made-out-of-butterfly-wings-don’t-call-it-blue over an LFA any day of the week. Or a new NSX. I think Lexus hit it out of the park with the LC500. It’s even priced in such a way as to be attainable (after seven years of depreciation, obviously)

There are a fair number of these cruising around my area. They all look good, but that blue.... Ohhhhhh that fucking blue. Gorgeous. Saw a guy just finishing washing it at a self-serve car wash and did a double take. The car is exotic in the way that the OG R8 was exotic. It’s unique. You can’t look away. You don’t WANT to look away. And the interior! Lordy. It’s no scalpel, but as far as comfy cruisers go it’s up there with the best.

NSX > GT-R or GT-R Nismo.

There. I said it.

With that being said, i8 > NSX.

Which gen? That’s super important. 1st gen NSX is definitely my top pick of... Like. ALL supercars. Or at least top 3. The new one... Near the bottom. I love the i8. I’ll put that... Uh... Four-ish spots below the 1st gen NSX?

GT-R has my respect. It’s also one of the attainable dream cars with depreciation so that’s nice

I could afford a slightly used one if I sold my house. Sure I’d be homeless briefly. Sure I’d be forced to rent an apartment nearly three times my mortgage. Sure I’d never drive it. Sure my wife would be mad. Where was it going with this?

New NSX.

I can’t help but want a Protonic Red i8 over anything else in that segment right now.

I want to look away because that front end is atrocious. Reminds me of a Subaru Impreza circa 2008, but uglier.

I really like the way it looks. Can’t help but feel it would be better served with a turbo V8 with over 550 hp and loads of low end torque. The choice of a NA V8 that does most of its work at the top of the rev range doesn’t mesh with the rest of the car. Still, well done Lexus! I’ve seen quite a few of these on the streets in Houston. I definitely see more of these than SLs and 6 series BMWs. It seems like a sales success in the segment.

Caliper to caliper. They had to cut back a bit after the last Doug-ing

The interior reminds me a lot of a certain 30 year old Nissan. This is not a complaint, just an observation:

Yeah, it does seem to be doing pretty well. I didn’t realize it started at $90k. Way more than I’ll ever spend on a car, but still less than I would have expected. Hell, that’s less than some Teslas. I have to respect Lexus for keeping NA V8's alive and well

Hmm. I kinda see it. I like that Nissan interior... What am I looking at?

I will say the LC500 interior looks a lot worse in that grey than it doesn’t in the colorful options, or even black.

I just want to caress this tan masterpiece

Toyota needs to go back and hire their designers from the 80s and 90s. Most of those cars and trucks looked great. Then they realized they could make money by designing cars to make baby boomers feel hip.

R32 Skyline GT-R. I agree the LC looks great inside and out. Someone near me just bought one that I’ve been seeing on my commute a lot. It’s dark gray which is a little disappointing but it still looks fantastic.

Guessing the LC500 is the most comfortable of all the cars mentioned, and that would be my consideration at my age. I’d need to do something about that awful grill, but that’s doable. But I don’t need a car, so it’s all a shimmering chimera ...

I think it’s a good looking car on its own, but the fact that it has the same face as the most revolting lineup out there today ruins it for me. If your entire lineup looks absolutely awful, have your one good looking car look different so it doesn’t get dragged down. It’s not gonna pull the rest up. Whereas before I respected Lexus for their comfortable and reliable vehicles, now I’m like philosophically opposed to them for intentionally inflicting that maw on the world.

Actually that V8 works just fine for the car. The point is that it is a comfy cruiser. So having the power band higher up means it’s easy to drive around town. But when you want you want to put the hammer down it makes lovely noises, but doesn’t go so fast that you kill yourself.

They are making an LC F that should meet the needs of those who require more power.

I don’t mind it from angles where you can’t see the grille or Nike lights. One of the few cars I don’t mind in red (or the dark red that Lexus likes) too.

I don’t think they photograph well, but I saw one at a cars and coffee event and it was really good looking. The blue looks pretty good too.
